High Protein Panettone Recipe — Light Italian Christmas Bread

If you’ve been searching for a healthy panettone recipe that still tastes like the classic Italian Christmas bread, this high-protein, low-fat panettone is the perfect holiday bake. Traditional panettone is rich, buttery, and sweet—but this lighter version keeps all the festive flavor while fitting beautifully into a bariatric-friendly or wellness-focused lifestyle.

This panettone is made with almond flour, protein powder, Greek yogurt, Splenda, and unsweetened applesauce, giving you a soft, lightly sweet bread that delivers flavor without the heavy calories.

It has a hint of orange extract and vanilla, which gives that signature panettone aroma. I just used sugar-free chocolate chips and cranberries, but you can customize it with sugar-free dried fruits as well. The panettone cake smells like Christmas morning, but it is low-sugar, high-protein, and gluten-friendly. Plus, you can freeze any leftovers in an air-tight sandwich bag in the freezer for a month. Just microwave the panettone for 1 minute to defrost. Also, this recipe works well for baking the panettone in mini ramekins as well.

Whether you enjoy the panettone with coffee, serve it on a holiday brunch board, or wrap up slices for friends, this healthy panettone recipe brings all the cozy Italian holiday charm—without the guilt.

Let’s get baking and bring a little festive magic to your kitchen! 🎄✨
